A Slack alternative for small businesses
Slack is excellent team messaging. If you are looking for an alternative, it is rarely because it works badly. More often it is for one of these reasons: the price that climbs with every new hire, history that disappears after 90 days on the free plan, clients you cannot simply invite, or the feeling of paying for messaging to which you still have to add a notes tool, a task tool and a CRM.

What Slack does better than us
Let us start there, because it matters for choosing well.
- Integrations. Slack plugs into a huge catalogue of apps: development tools, customer support, automations. If your team wants to run everything from its messaging, Slack is unbeatable.
- Maturity. Years of work on search, audio calls, and desktop and mobile apps.
- Large organisations. Beyond 50 people, with demanding security and administration requirements, Slack's enterprise plans are made for that.
If these points matter to you, stay on Slack. If your team has fewer than 50 people and above all wants a simple tool to get organised, read on.
What changes with Synintra
One price per company, not per user. Slack Pro costs €8.25 per user per month on monthly billing (€6.75 billed annually). For a team of 8 people, that is €66 a month for messaging alone. At Synintra, the price is set per company: you do not pay for each new person who joins. Today, channels, notes, to-dos and client tracking are free during early access, and any paid plan will be announced at least thirty days in advance.
Your clients and partners invited for free. On Slack, guests are only available on paid plans. Guests limited to a single channel are free, up to five per paid member; the others are billed like members. And to share a channel with another company, each one must be on a paid plan. On Synintra, you send a partner invitation: the other company creates its space for free, you open the project channel to it, and its members do not count towards your team.
Not one more messaging app, a work tool. Synintra brings together channels, a personal to-do list, shared notes written by several people and tracking of clients and prospects. A message becomes a note or a to-do in one click, a note can be shared in a channel, a box ticked in a note is ticked in the list of the person concerned.
Your history is not erased. Slack's free plan keeps only 90 days of searchable messages. Synintra keeps your conversations.
Hosted in Europe. Your data is hosted in Europe, in line with GDPR, and is never resold. Your channels and notes belong to your company: neither Synintra nor the other companies on the platform can read them.

Moving from Slack to Synintra
Synintra does not automatically import your Slack history. The simplest way is to start a new project on Synintra for a few weeks, keeping Slack running alongside, then switch once the team has settled into its habits. You create your space in 2 minutes, you invite your colleagues, and everyone finds familiar landmarks: channels, threads, mentions.
